What We Do

For over 15 years we have been dedicated to enhancing the health, well-being, and inner serenity of every kindred soul through the practice of strength, flexibility and mindfulness.

Chris Blanks, Principle and Director of Shamatha Yoga Studio is certified in several disciplines. Kripalu Yoga, Ashtanga (David Swenson), Vinyasa Flow (Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee), Viniyasa (T.K.V. Desikachar), Power Yoga (Baron Baptist, Rodney Yee), with additional certifications from The Yoga Institute of Houston. Her compassion and humor helped to create a spirited, warm and relaxed atmosphere.

She has studied cronic disease/yoga with Dr. Herbert Benson at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. Chris is also a Reiki and Sadja Energy Healer.

Class Format

Classes are in six week sessions. Each class is aproximately 60-90 minutes long.

Attendance twice a week is necessary for long term benefits, we have classes 7 days a week.

Each class consists of Hatha Yoga (External & Physical) and Raja Yoga (Internal & Subtle) instruction with a variety description of Breathing, Meditation and Relaxation Techniques.

Yoga is an ancient Indian practice. It is          an Art, Science, Philosophy and Therapy, which intergrates both physical and spiritual practices.Practiced on a regular basis, Yoga helps to create Harmony, Balance, Strenght, Flexibility and Suppleness. It also releases chronic tension, stress and anxiety. Yoga encourages one to live life more concious, more joyful and centered.

What styles of yoga we teach?

The teaching style is eclectic and non-dogmatic. We intergrate Vinyasa Flow,  Ashtanga, Acro Yoga, Yin Yoga, Kripalu, Iyengar, Sivananda, Power, and others.
